As a mixed media artist and maker I enjoy working with a variety of materials producing paintings, artists’ books, sculptures and collaged hangings. My work is often in a subtle palette of greys and soft blues and many of my abstract paintings are an intuitive exploration of a textured, mixed media painted surface where the final outcome is often unknown. Some of my pieces include hand stitching and textiles together with a variety of found objects and fragments of vintage papers and documents which create an interesting fusion of techniques.
The use of sketchbooks and visual diaries is an integral part of my working process.
Originally from Oxfordshire, I moved to the Cornish seaside town of St Ives in 2000. Over the years, I have had successive Studio Galleries open to the public - the first in our home that overlooked the bay and harbour; for eight years I was part of Back Road Artworks, a gallery run by a collective of local artists in Back Road West; and for six years at Whites Old Workshops in the heart of the old part of St Ives.
I now work from my fabulous Garden Studio at our cottage at 6 Bullans Terrace, St Ives. Visitors are welcome by appointment only.
My work is exhibited in selected galleries across the country and I am a member of the St Ives Society of Artists, St Ives Arts Club and an Associate Member of the Penwith Gallery.
